Reading is a superpower. Always has been, always will be.Writing, talking, listening, these are all great and important too, but there's just something different about reading, isn't there? It's just you, the text, and your thoughts—and yet, your imagination can bring it all to life better than any band, narrator, or crew of 1,000 people making a blockbuster movie ever could. But the way we're reading is changing. It has to. There's so much more information, so much more technology. So much more going on, and so much more we're aware of thanks to the internet. We must learn to filter better and faster. We must use tools to curate and condense information. And we must piece together our conclusions from ever more sources which we've considered from ever more angles. We can't do this alone, and we're not meant to. Technology has caused these changes—and technology will also help us thrive because of them. How exactly? That's what my friend Michael Simmons and I will teach you in our 2-hour workshop, Augmented Reading, that's happening tomorrow. We'll show you how to work with AI to further supercharge your reading superpower and become a master learner, fully equipped for the 21st century. There'll also be a Q&A, full recording, $800 in bonuses, and more. You still have around 24 hours to sign up.
If you're like me, you're an AI skeptic.I mean, there's so. much. hype around it. It gets mentioned everywhere these days, and influencers make it sound like every burger joint would soon have to adopt AI or go out of business. That alone can make one suspicious. But even though not all is gold that glitters, even I have to admit: In the last 2 years, it's gotten a lot better. I have to use AI every now and then at my day job, and while I don't think it'll replace experts any time soon, I'm starting to see that it's really good at certain types of tasks—and it's those types of tasks we'll focus on in Augmented Reading. Like... 1. Filtering informationGoogle Search has been the gold standard for scanning immeasurable amounts of data with a single query for 25 years. And guess what Google is using to help its Gemini AI do that job? Google Search, of course. But AI isn't just good at scanning large amounts of information. It's also good at doing so with an extensive, specific query in mind. If you put more than a simple question into Google Search, the results quickly go off the rails. But if you tell AI about your whole theme for a tapas party, including games and decorations, and then ask for a guacamole recipe, it can take everything into account while searching for just the right one. 2. Curating informationUnlike a normal Google search, AI will take whatever information it finds, prep it for you, present it to you the right way, and show you a selection of highly specific, relevant links. This is much better than Google Search saying, "Here are 355 million results for your ask. See the first 10 below. Hope you find what you're looking for, and good luck!" It's like your personal librarian prepared a few sources just for you. 3. Condensing informationAs much of a blow as it has been to Four Minute Books and other book summary services, there's no way around it: AI is great at summarizing manifold sources into various lengths on command. Most people just ask it to "summarize X," and often, that turns out well enough. But if you give it a little more targeted instructions, you can summarize, say, a 20-minute documentary on Youtube into a paragraph, a 300-word summary, a 1,000-word essay, or even an outline for a presentation or online course. Before, we had to pick whatever summaries were available from the people kind enough to make them for us. With AI, we can summarize anything at any length into any format on command. 4. Considering information from many anglesIf I read an article from an impressionist painter about graffiti, everything will be colored with her perspective. That's amazing, and we need that. But what if I want the expressionist take afterwards? What if I would like to hear some counterarguments or imagine what a younger or older person would comment on that article? AI can simulate all of these things. They're not real, of course. AI has no actual experience of anything. But it's often still a helpful thought experiment. We can imagine what it's like to look at something through other people's eyes—what AI can do is help us do more of that faster. In our Augmented Reading workshop on Thursday, May 29th at 11 AM EST (that's 5 PM CEST if you're in Europe), we'll learn how we can bring those skills from AI into our reading. By the end of it, we'll know how to use a new tool to simply get better at these 4 essential skills ourselves: filtering, curating, condensing information, and then considering it from many angles.
That last point really gets to the heart of what Augmented Reading is all about. In Michael's words: "What I also love about this technique is that it uses AI to augment my intelligence rather than replace it."It's not about making a chatbot do the work for you. There's always real, hard work to be done—and sending even the smartest chatbot out front usually won't cut it. Reading, real reading, is no different. But if you combine AI with your existing, amazing, human skill of reading, you become even stronger, better, and smarter. Augmented Reading is like adding 7 more mini-superpowers to your reading arsenal. You will... 1. Have more fun reading because you'll drastically increase the value-density of what you read.No more fluff. Focus on the good, most interesting, most relevant bits, and nothing else. 2. Understand things more quickly because AI can simplify complex jargon. It can even use your vocabulary and metaphors of choice to explain any topic to you. Want an idea from a book in the form of a lecture from a high-school English teacher? No problem. 3. Build a deeper understanding of what you choose to learn.AI can't just simplify, it can also expand, transfer, and make ideas more concrete. If you ask it to tell you a lesson in the form of a story, for example, or coach you through a business plan step by step, you will experience the material instead of just consuming it, and that has tremendous power. 4. Instantly get to apply what you learn.Be it through a custom coaching plan, the AI putting ideas into context thanks to its memory of your past conversations, or simply by you asking, "How can I apply this in my life today in a way that takes only 5 minutes to get started?"—AI can turn any "what" or "why" into a "how." 5. Learn more than ever at less cost. You should always buy books you care about, and if you upload them to the AI in full, you can really get the most out of them. But thanks to the sheer volume of information already out there, be it on books, authors, and otherwise, AI will really broaden the scope of what you learn, and it doesn't have to cost a cent (although some advanced forms of Augmented Reading might require a paid plan on one of the apps). 6. Learn faster than ever.I mean, just add up all the above. Plus, even if you bought a great book and intend to read it in full, you can still upload it into your AI and start learning small lessons right away in a bite-sized format—even if you've only had time to read one chapter so far. 7. Have a real opportunity to share your knowledge with those around you.Finding an efficient AI prompt is fun. The other day, I made one that allowed me to analyze any stock like a Harvard professor would. The results were really good! I instantly shared them with a friend who's also into researching the markets all the time. Win-win! Plus, if you want to, you can share the many assets you'll create with AI on social media and work towards becoming a thought leader in your space. That's 7 great reasons to join our workshop on Thursday. Come sign up!
If you want to add 7 more power-ups to your reading skill and become one of the few master readers in the 21st century, you should come to our Augmented Reading class. Here are the details again in a nutshell:
The training will cost a one-time fee of $149 to attend and include all the above. There are only around 24 hours left before we start. So go sign up now! Just complete the checkout process, and we'll take care of the rest.
See you tomorrow! -Nik & Michael PS: We're looking forward to learning and having fun with you at Augmented Reading, just like we've done before many times in the past. |
