| Heyo, it's Nik! If you thought last week's featured title, a book from 1984, was old, think again: Today's top pick is 268 years old—older than the United States of America and many other countries. It's... The Way to Wealth by Benjamin FranklinYup. Before he helped found the USA, Mr. Franklin wrote and published books. And this one is a special one. The Way to Wealth compiles the lessons Franklin shared in over 25 years (!) of publishing Poor Richard's Almanack, an early annual "magazine." And, better yet, he condensed said wisdom into just ~10 pages. But wait, it gets better still: You can read the whole thing for free. It's online as part of Project Gutenberg, an effort to preserve some of history's most important texts and make them accessible to anyone. I recently read this book on a train ride, and it was jam- and gem-packed with great ideas: "Sloth, like rust, consumes faster than labour wears, while the used key is always bright." "Employ thy time well, if thou meanest to gain leisure; and, since thou art not sure of a minute, throw not away an hour." "Experience keeps a dear school, but fools will learn in no other." What a fantastic way to invest 30 minutes. I highly recommend you do so this weekend.
