| Heyo, Nik from Four Minute Books here! I don't know how to tell this story without writing a memoir, and I don't quite have the ending yet, but the short version is this: Last year, 500,000+ people found their way to Four Minute Books via Google every month. Right now, less than 150,000 are still doing so, and the numbers keep dropping. The old situation made for a sustainable business. The new one does not. Therefore, I'll have to figure out something else. That "something else" is still in the works, but whatever it's going to be, it means there'll be some changes coming to Four Minute Books. I promise to tell you what they are as soon as I know. Here's one of them: The newsletter will go back to a simpler format (at least for now). It just feels more personal and efficient. Speaking of which, this week, we have a GREAT book on creativity, mindfulness, and making art: The Creative Act by legendary music producer Rick Rubin. You might not know Rick Rubin, but I guarantee you do know his work. Have you ever heard an Eminem song? How about Jay-Z? What about Metallica, Linkin Park, or the Red Hot Chili Peppers? Maybe you're into Johnny Cash. Rubin has produced music with all of these artists and then some. Now, after a star-studded, 40-year music career, Rubin has finally published his first book, The Creative Act. In it, he shares everything he knows about making art, which is really "a way of being," as he calls it. Today's video will teach you 3 lessons that'll help you make things that are true to yourself while still inspiring others:
If you want to be a creative and make meaningful art of any kind, watch this video! Not your cup of read? Here are 2 other titles you might enjoy:
