ICYMI: 📚 The Financial Diet by Chelsea Fagan 🤑, Will by Will Smith 🎬 & The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss 🕓 (+ a mega-list of 414 inspiring quotes! 🤯)
Hello there! Nik here with Saturday's The 4 Minute Read, just in case you missed the email. Here's one last hurrah for MoneyMarch before we arrive in... Acceptance April! More on that later this week.
In today's edition:
The Financial Diet by Chelsea Fagan (amazing collection of clever money tips from someone who grew up poor, went into debt, and eventually turned her financial life around)
Will by Will Smith (video summary of Will Smith's biography with 3 lessons on overcoming fear and living your best life)
Growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina, Chelsea Fagan didn't feel poor in her hand-me-down clothes. When her family moved to Maryland, however, more and more, she started feeling the need to "look rich to fit in." Eventually, she became a debt-ridden, extremely stressed out young adult — until she started chronicling her financial decisions publicly. Years later, The Financial Diet has become a major brand, blog, book, and success, full of thrifty spending tips and clever ways to save, invest, and grow your money!
"Money doesn't buy you happiness, but it buys you the Lego kit of happiness. It buys you comfort, security, and options, even if you still have to build your happiness on top of it."
— Chelsea Fagan
The Big 3 From the Book
1. Have a few non-negotiable money rules, even if they're not perfect.
2. Learning to cook "Italian grandma style" will change your food budget forever.
3. Don't dream big — dream medium, and you'll put less financial pressure on yourself.
Will Smith is all about overcoming fear to live your best life. Of course, he doesn't always succeed (the Oscars, anyone?). More often than not, however, he does, and that's why his career and impact have grown bigger and bigger over the years.
No matter how you look at it, succeeding in music, movies, and on TV the way Will did, especially as a Black man in America, is something worth studying and learning from. That's what his autobiography, co-written with Mark Manson, allows us to do.
Here are 3 powerful lessons from the book in animated form.

This is one of the first business books I ever read. My statistics professor in the US recommended it to me, and it changed my life. This book sealed the deal on me becoming an entrepreneur, and even though its ideas never fully ended up working out for me, it gave me courage, new tools, and the desire to succeed. This is the kind of book you read for the spiritual boost it gives you more so than its contents, despite those contents still holding up relatively well over 15 years after it was published. An absolute must-read for any entrepreneur!
PS: Can you guess what the most popular inspirational quote of all time is? It's one of those that are constantly attributed to the wrong person...but which one? Find out here »
