| Hello there! Nik here. This weekend, I'd like to share with you an all-time favorite book of mine, a timeless classic about work: What I like about Seth Godin's books is that they form an overall, coherent philosophy. Of course, Seth, like any person, keeps evolving. And so does this philosophy. As he uncovers more and more puzzle pieces, he keeps adding to the big picture whenever he has something important to say. Despite this, most of his works can stand alone and, in this case, stand the test of time, too. I read Linchpin when I was in college. It really opened my eyes as to how much of our work has little to do with what we learn in school, university, or even the sum total of our knowledge. The truth is most of us can learn to do most jobs, if only we're willing to practice. And most jobs can only be learned on the job, too. Few new hires in any field produce massive value in the first 6 months. Therefore, what really differentiates us is how we show up. Which attitudes we carry into our interactions. How we channel our creativity. And all the other intangible stuff that'll never show up on your CV. Seth isn't a man of tactics. He's a teacher trying to teach us how to see. Linchpin is about recognizing that the time of following instructions is over—and then learning to make yourself indispensable to the people around you. Here's what you'll learn in today's video:
If you want to have a meaningful, rewarding career in this crazy, automated, AI-manic 21st century of ours, watch this video. Not your cup of read? Here are 2 other titles you might enjoy:
Heroes aren't fearless. Not at work, and not anywhere else in life. Nobody runs on 100% courage. Right now, I'm scared of 150 different things. But I'm still here. Still writing. Still taking the risk of sending you this message, not knowing what you'll think about it. It's easy to move forward when you're winning. The moments that define you are the ones where you're scared but keep walking anyway—and some of those moments happen every single day. Always scared, never stopping. You're not the only one traveling with fear in the passenger seat. Keep driving, okay? Happy reading,
