| Hello hello hello! It's Nik! I've brought 3 great fall reads for you to learn from this weekend. Our top title shows what a great privilege it is to be free to learn at all. It's... I don't know where you live, but these days, in most countries, at least some form of school education is the norm. In Europe and America, most kids go to preschool or kindergarten, elementary school, then some kind of secondary education, and plenty go on after that to college. Tara Westover was born in the mountains of Idaho—and stayed there. Her parents were "survivalists." That means they basically tried to avoid society altogether and manage life purely on their own. Having some survival skills can surely come in handy, but when you take it to Tara's father's level—he was basically a religious extremist and convinced doomsday prepper—it gets unhealthy. While other kids discovered all kinds of subjects and learned how to navigate the world, Tara and her siblings were isolated at home, forced to help their parents run their small farm and stockpile for the supposedly impending apocalypse. Educated: A Memoir is Tara's story of how she took charge of her own life—eventually even making it as far as Cambridge University. It's an incredibly inspiring tale about the meaning of education and making your own choices. The book has sold over 8 million copies. Here's what you'll learn in today's video:
