The Great Gatsby is the first book I ever summarized—sort of. It was 15 years ago, and I was in high school. We each had to read a literary classic, analyze it, and present our findings to the class. I still have my notes from back then. Crazy how time flies! If you've never read it, The Great Gatsby follows Jay Gatsby's quest to win back his long-lost love by faking a successful life during the "Roaring 20s" in New York City. Thankfully, my writing has gotten a lot better since high school. So for this summary, I was able to cover most of the major plot points as well as extract 3 valuable life lessons along the way. Even 100 years after its publication, this all-American classic still sells 500,000 copies each year, helping countless people explore their struggles with love, relationships, societal standing, and consumerism.
