Hey hey, Nik here.
Sooo, the other day, this happened:
That's...totally insane! Thank you!!
When I decided to start a Youtube channel for Four Minute Books 3 years ago, I had no idea that we would ever make it this far. In fact, I didn't even know whether we could last beyond the first year — but here we are!
In those 3 years, we...
- Spent tens of thousands of dollars on making over 150 videos
- Worried whether the 1.5-year-flatline you see in the graph above would last forever
- Got better and better at making beautifully animated and narrated versions of our summaries
- Grew to over 34,000 subscribers
...and now, we hit over one million views. Of course, none of that would have been possible without you, so thank you!
Thank you for watching, liking, commenting, sharing, and subscribing! If you haven't done the latter, by the way, now would be a great time. 😁
Before I share some of our greatest hits over the years, there's one other person I'd like to thank: Adam Del Duca. Without his help, none of this would have happened either. He knows Youtube in and out, and he's been as reliable as a Swiss clock in making sure we post each and every Friday — without fail — for more than 150 weeks in a row. If you have or want to start a channel, I can't recommend him enough. He has a free newsletter called Tube Insiders. That's a great place to start.
Alright, here's my favorite video from each year the channel's been alive.
From 2020, it's our very first (and still one of our best and most popular) titles: Atomic Habits by James Clear.
From 2021, it's The Courage to Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga. That one became our first viral and most popular video of all time, and rightfully so.
From 2022, it'll have to be The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, our first fiction title and one of my all-time favorites, period.
And for 2023, what better book to pick than our very latest? Same as Ever by Morgan Housel is not just a great book, it's also the fastest summary we've ever released — the book came out last Tuesday, and 3 days later, our video summary went live!
Thank you for being a part of the Four Minute Books journey, be it on this newsletter, our Youtube channel, or anywhere else, really.
I hope you'll enjoy some of these classics, as well as the *fingers crossed* many more book summaries to come!
Happy reading watching,
-Nik
