Hey there, it's Nik! And just like that, the last of our June Jewels lands in your inbox. Time flies when you're having fun, and I very much hope that applies to your summer. Here's what I made for you this week:
Exupéry was a French writer and aviator who flew many missions in World War II. He became disillusioned with the war and the fighting, and also the society that allowed these things to happen in the first place. But he also never lost hope, and he brilliantly worked his frustrations into this beautiful children's book, which he also illustrated himself. Exupéry went missing on his last mission at just 44 years old, but the book continues to teach, console, and inspire millions around the world each year. It is one of the most popular books of all time. It has been translated into 500+ languages and sold more than 200 million copies, allegedly. I hope you'll check out this beautiful book.
The Nicomachean Ethics is one of few remaining books from ancient Greece that survived in a form close to its original version. It is also one of the most important works of philosophy in human history.
Unlike the ethics we argue about today, Aristotle thought "being a good human" was simple, practical, and, most of all, actionable. He focused on ideas like being virtuous, doing good, being happy, and choosing good goals.
If you want to be happy, do good, and understand one of the most important books in history in just a few minutes, watch this video.
"If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking."
— Haruki Murakami
When you summarize 1,000 books, you inevitably come across a few hidden gems. Here, I've compiled 12 of them for you.
I rarely see these books on popular lists, and even though their authors are in some cases famous, it is usually their lesser known work that truly stands out.
All of these books have made a big impact on me, and I'm sure they can have a positive effect on your life too.
Read what no one else is reading. Here are the 12 best non-fiction books most people have never heard of.
This is a great book for anyone early in their entrepreneurial career, or anyone who's built something for a while but is lost in complexity and wants to clear their mind. The ideas are solid and as valid as ever. Keep it simple. Test before you commit. And never measure what doesn't matter. Enjoy!
